80s Singer Rick Springfield Pleads Not Guilty to DUI Offense

1980s pop rocker Rick Springfield was charged with DUI a couple of months ago in California after officers said that he made an illegal traffic maneuver.  Springfield, known for the song "Jessie's Girl," took a breathalyzer and blew a .10, which is over the California limit of .08.  Earlier today, his lawyer entered a Not Guilty plea on his behalf at the arraignment.

In Gwinnett County, the legal limit for DUI for a driver over the age of 21 is also a .08.  In Lawrenceville, a driver accused of DUI will have his or her first Lawrenceville Municipal Court (or Gwinnett County Recorders Court if the case was Gwinnett County Police Dept.) date a few weeks after their arrest.  This first Court date is known as the arraignment.  At arraignment, the driver ( or his or her lawyer) will enter a plea of guilty or not guilty.  A guilty plea will usually accompany a plea bargain.  A not guilty plea will lead to the case being put on a calendar for trial in which case the Lawrenceville or Gwinnett County prosecuting attorneys will have to prove their guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Our Gwinnett County DUI lawyers can help you negotiate a plea bargain, investigate and have a jury trial, or help you decide whether you want to plea or go to trial.  Call Lawrenceville GA DUI attorney Richard Lawson today for a free case analysis and to get your questions answered.
