Orlando Brown, a 23 year old actor and rapper, best known for being a regular on the Disney channel serie, "That's So Raven," was arrested in L.A. recently for driving under the influence charges. According to reports, Brown was pulled over by law enforcement for not having a valid license plate. The officer allegedly smelled the odor of alcohol on Brown's breath and then conducted field sobriety tests. The actor was pulled over in front of his house and his pregnant girlfriend was a passenger in the vehicle.

Brown was arrested and posted a $15,000 bond. He has a court date pending.

When someone is arrested for a Gwinnett County DUI, the same procedure generally occurs. The Gwinnett county officer needs a reason to stop a driver - from something as minor as a tag violation, to something leaving failing to maintain lane, or even being stopped at a police roadblock. Typically, the Gwinnett DUI officer will say that he smells alcohol on the driver or that he notices the driver has slurred speech or bloodshot or watery eyes. Then they ask the drive to submit to field sobriety tests and a breath test. If the officer believes the driver is DUI, he will arrest them and bring them to a Gwinnett County jail. The first court date is usually several weeks to a couple of months from the date of arrest . This depends on whether it is a Gwinnett County officer and the case initially goes to the Gwinnett Recorders Court for a DUI prosecution or if it is a city DUI officer - such as Duluth, Snellville, or Suwanee, in which case the case will first be handled in the city courts of Duluth, GA, Snellville, or Suwanee. The Gwinnett County State Court is the jury trial court for any accused driver who wants a jury trial on their DUI case.
